The Joseph and Margit Hoffman Judaica Postcard Collection was donated to the Folklore Research Center at the Mandel Institute of Jewish Studies in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in memory of the collector and his wife, Joseph and Margit Hoffman, who were born in Germany and lived in the United States, Sweden and Israel.
The collection includes about 7000 postcards printed mostly in Western and Eastern Europe, the United States, and some in Palestine and North Africa, between the end of the 19th century and the end of the 20th century. The postcards feature Jewish communal life and quarters, Jewish types and portraits, Jewish art, synagogues, and ritual objects, Rosh Hashana greeting cards and general Jewish and biblical art.
